Photo Caption:

This 1925 photograph shows three vehicles in the garage at the Point Sur Light Station. The vehicle on the far right bears the marking USLHS for United States Lighthouse Service. The vehicle in the middle is a Durant and it even featured an advertisement of sorts for Durant on its spare tire. Durants were made by William “Billy” Durant from 1921 to 1926 and again from 1928 to 1932. Durant, who had been fired as the head of General Motors, had hoped to build an automobile empire that would rival General Motors.
