Clarence H. Cranmer, left (1861-1944), who started his lighthouse career at Barnegat Lighthouse as the 2nd assistant keeper in 1883. He was the 1st assistant keeper from 1896 to 1915 when he was appointed head keeper, a position he held until 1926. For all practical purposes, he was the last head keeper of the lighthouse. He is buried in the Barnegat Memorial Cemetery. Hopefully, the day will come when a U.S. Lighthouse Service Memorial Marker will be placed at his gravesite. Back to the edition of: Sep/Oct 2022
