The Brazos Santiago screwpile lighthouse was finally built and established in 1879, five years after Mary Hamilton’s death. It stood at the Brazos Santiago Pass in the Gulf of Mexico, near Port Isabel, Texas. Mary’s husband, keeper Frank Hamilton, died while in service here in 1887.
