In April of 1999, a fire that started in the chimney heavily damaged the keeper’s house. After some serious debate, the town decided to repair and restore what was left of the keeper’s house rather than tear it done and build a replica. It is shown here after the fire-damaged upper portion of the house was removed, just before total restoration started. (Lighthouse Digest archives) Back to the edition of: Sep/Oct 2022
