Now here’s a neat piece of U.S. history. This small booklet published by the United States Government in 1915 must have caught government printers off guard. The book is printed with the title “United States Revenue-Cutter Service, 1915.”
However, a stamped imprint at the top of the booklet says, “Name Changed by Act of Congress to, United States Coast Guard.” Interestingly enough, the stamping of the name change was also used on the inside of the booklet.
The booklet, recently donated to ALF will now be on display at the Museum of Lighthouse History in Wells, Maine.
