Photo Caption:

South Africa's Hood Point Lighthouse looks quite different than it originally did when it sported vermillion and white checkered squares. This was considered a great assignment spot by the keepers. Today there is a beautiful golf course on one of its boundaries and a peaceful cemetery on the other. The station still boasts its original lens. Today the station is manned by only one lighthouse technician.
