March 1999 Photo By: Chip Horaneck This month's spectacular cover photo is of Ireland's Fasnet Lighthouse taken by Chip Horaneck of Annapolis, Maryland. Fasnet Lighthouse, the most famous of Ireland's beacons, is located on a rock four miles off Cape Clear, Co. Cork. Built in 1899 of 2,074 blocks of Cornish stone, each block of stone was individually laid into place by one man. Most often it is the first point of land seen by voyagers from America to Europe and the last seen by those leaving Ireland for the Americas
