Notes: Sanibel city employees lived in the keeper's houses and maintain the property. On September 28, 2022 Hurricane Ian destroyed the keepers house and all out buildings of the Sanibel Island Light Station. One of the tower's support legs and a brace were ripped from the tower and later found under three feet of sand. In November 2022 a work crew installed a temporary wooden support leg to the tower to stabilize it.
