This lighthouse replaced DeTour Point Light onshore. The U.S. Coast Guard has stated that the DeTour Reef Light is now obsolete as a navigational aid. In 1998, the DeTour Reef Light Preservation Society was formed to restore, preserve, and maintain the lighthouse. Much restoration has been completed. Tower Height: 63 Height of Focal Plane: 74 Characteristic and Range: White flash every 10 seconds, with red sector. Description of Tower: White, square reinforced concrete tower on top of keeper's dwelling.
