All buildings except the lighthouse and oil house at Wood End were destroyed after the light's 1961 automation.

Fog Signal: 1902: Fog bell and striking mechanism in pyramidal tower; now automated horn with one blast every 30 seconds.

Current Use: Active aid to navigation.

Directions:
Wood End Light can be reached by walking across a breakwater at the west end of Commercial Street. The walk is fairly strenuous and the breakwater is exposed to waves and spray in rough weather. You can also take a water shuttle to Long Point -- call Flyer's at (508) 487-0898 or (800) 750-0898. The walk from Long Point to Wood End is a couple of miles over soft sand.
