It comes following a multiyear, multimillion-dollar project on the Long Island landmark. See story in the September/October 2023 edition of Lighthouse Digest.

The majority of the work was done by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to protect the lighthouse from erosion from storms and waves.

A thousand feet of stone was added to prevent erosion and degradation of the site.

Work was also done to restore the tower that was built in 1796 and to the keeper’s house.

This story appeared in the Nov/Dec 2023 edition of Lighthouse Digest Magazine. The print edition contains more stories than our internet edition, and each story generally contains more photographs - often many more - in the print edition.
