The Lighthouse & Me – History, Memoir, & Imagination
The editor of Lighthouse Digest says that this book, “The Lighthouse & Me” by Jeffrey Burke is one of the best lighthouse books on an individual lighthouse that I’ve read in many years.” This may be in part because Jeff Burke not only lives on the island where the lighthouse is located, but, for a long time, he and his wife operated a successful bed and breakfast in the former keeper’s home Maine’s Isle au Haut Lighthouse. Peter Ralston of the Island Institute wrote, “Jeff’s book is packed full of lore, legend, and lessons learned over several decades of near-ceaseless work on behalf of the Isle au Haut Light.” This 230 page book is an easy read and includes some photos and illustrations to help the reader along the way. If you love Maine or lighthouses, this book is for you. Highly recommended by Lighthouse Digest. It is available from Lighthouse Digest for $18.95 plus shipping as item #2211.
