As you compare this modern photo of Greens Ledge Lighthouse with the historic photos, you will notice a number of differences. The most noticeable is that the roof of the lower balcony has been removed. That roof offered the keepers the only relief from the sun and the rain during relaxation and exercise time. Also, rip rap was later installed around and near the tower to offer it a certain amount of protection. Back to the edition of: Jul/Aug 2015
