Photo Caption:

A new head keeper’s dwelling at Fort Point Lighthouse was completed in 1909 at the bottom of the bluff. James Rankin was the first keeper to live here. One of the assistant keeper’s homes can be seen at the top of the bluff. Look closely by the seaward assistant light keeper’s house and you will notice a trestle-like bridge that went from the top of the bluff to the top of the wall of the fort so the keepers could get to the lighthouse tower.
