Keeper Levi Blake Clark was a man of high ideals and dedication. He was a licensed lay minister who, while serving at Cuttyhunk Light, started a Sunday School “for the people, who were without religious privileges.” However, in lighthouse circles, his greatest accomplishment was to earn the 2nd District Lighthouse Efficiency Flag while at Hospital Point Light, not one, not two, but five years in a row from 1921 through 1925. This is why local newspapers heralded him as a “champion lighthouse keeper,” which was a well-deserved title. (Courtesy Marshard Family)
