Capt. Milton Reamy’s daughter, Evelyn, who was featured as a child in the Christmas article, grew up to marry keeper Henry “Harry” M. Bailey, who had served three years at Minot’s Ledge Light with Capt. Reamy and his son Octavius from 1913 to 1916. It was during this time that Harry and Evelyn courted and were married in 1915. Harry was a third-generation lighthouse keeper – the son of George Edward Bailey, keeper of Eastern Point Light for 34 years (1892-1926), who was son of George Gooding Bailey, keeper at Eastern before him for ten years (1882-1892). George Edward Bailey had also served at Boston Light from 1891 to 1892 and probably knew Milton Reamy back then. Following Minot’s Ledge, Harry went to Plymouth (Gurnet) Light until 1918 and then transferred to Sandy Neck Lighthouse for at least the next three years. This photo (above) was taken there, showing (l-r) Evelyn, Harry and Evelyn’s brother Octavius who had come for a visit. In the play boat are two of Evelyn’s children and two of her sister Ethel’s. Ethel was also featured in the Christmas article as she pondered the mysteries of Santa Claus. The building behind them is the boathouse at Sandy Neck with part of the winch assembly barely visible through the open doorway. (Courtesy Marti Dahl)
