Henry L. Pingree was a 30-year veteran keeper, having joined the service at Boston Harbor Light in 1888. In 1892, he took a break and went to Plymouth (Gurnet) Light for two years, followed by a return to Boston Harbor Light for the next 15 years. Then, in 1909, he transferred to Sandy Neck Light where he finished his service nine years later in 1918, the same year he died. It is currently unknown whether he died at the lighthouse or in the town of Barnstable nearby. Henry’s son, Wesley A. Pingree, became a keeper also and served with his father for just one year at Boston Light as his 1st assistant. (Courtesy of Pingree Family)
