Photo Caption:

One of the many exhibits at the 1926 National Orange Show was this beautiful lighthouse created by the City of Pasadena, California. The Los Angeles Times newspaper, who published this photo, stated, “Pasadena is drawing much favorable comment because no one can reason why Pasadena should have a lighthouse, but that is its exhibit. Of course, the structure is made of oranges, lemons, and tangerines.” The caption published with the photo read, “Pasadena’s lighthouse gleaming from base to pinnacle to guide the storm-tossed easterner to a peaceful haven.” (Courtesy UCLA Library Digital Collections)
