Lilla Severance said that, other than at Matinicus Rock Lighthouse, the most dangerous and frightening landings she experienced were at Maine’s 1875 Egg Rock Lighthouse at the entrance to Frenchman’s Bay near Winter Harbor, Maine. Many times, she arrived with wet clothes that had been soaked from the ocean spray while attempting to land the boat. But she said that the views from Egg Rock Lighthouse were the most spectacular of any lighthouse where she ever stayed. (Lighthouse Digest archives)
