Family and Friends at Ram Island Ledge Lighthouse These folks apparently had no anxiety of rough boat landings or the fear of heights as they gathered on the deck of Maine’s Ram Island Ledge Lighthouse to visit in 1923 with lighthouse keeper John Dewyea and his wife. As shown, they had to climb straight up a ladder to reach the deck where the stairs were located that led to the lighthouse where this photo was taken. After spending 29 years stationed at Halfway Rock Lighthouse, John Dewyea became keeper at Ram Island Ledge Lighthouse, a position he held until he retired in 1923. (Courtesy Ford Reiche)
