George Washington Warrington II, who was the 2nd assistant U.S. Lighthouse Service civilian keeper at New York’s Montauk Point Lighthouse from December 1928 through August of 1942, stands next to the 3½ order bivalve Fresnel lens in the lantern of the lighthouse. In August of 1942, he became a Coast Guard light keeper at the lighthouse until his retirement in 1943. This lens is now on display in the Visitor’s Center at the lighthouse. (Courtesy George W.
