The light at Montauk Point Lighthouse was first exhibited in April of 1797. It is the oldest lighthouse in New York and the fourth oldest continually active lighthouse in the United States. It has undergone several renovations, upgrades, and restorations since the 1800s. The large two-story keeper’s dwelling was constructed in 1860 and is still in use today housing a museum.
