(L-R Adults) Lillian Fairlie, Elsie Hilden, Manny Resendes, Marie Parrish. Lillian was Ellie’s sister, and it is through letters written by Manny to her in 1949 that we know his detailed account of the marriage that resulted in Ellie leaving him that year. Elsie Hilden, Ellie’s mother, was the driving force behind the marriage of Ellie to Manny. Marie Parrish was Manny’s sister. The child is Lillian’s daughter Arline Fitzpatrick, who, in 1990, started the Save Esopus Lighthouse Commission whose members are still restoring and maintaining the “Maid of the Meadows” today.
