Photo Caption:
The U.S. Lighthouse Service Astoria Tongue Point Depot was established in 1876 to house buoys and supplies used in the 13th Lighthouse District along the northern Pacific Coast. There was a need for a depot large enough to provide for all storage and repairs under shelter. This pre-1905 photo shows the U.S. Lighthouse Service tenders Manzanita (l) and Columbine (r) that were assigned to service the area. (Lighthouse Digest archives) Back to the edition of: Mar/Apr 2019
