Photo Caption:

Historic image of Michigan’s Peninsula Point Lighthouse. It appears that seven adults and two children posed for this photo in front of the lighthouse during its early years. The curtains or shades in the lantern were closed to protect the Fresnel lens from the harmful rays of the sun. Only the tower remains standing today. (Lighthouse Digest archives.)
