Photo Caption:

Maine’s Boon Island Lighthouse as it appeared in 1944 when Jack and Miriam Dolby were stationed there. The giant 2nd order Fresnel lens that was in the tower when the Dolbys were stationed there is now on display at the Kittery Historical and Naval Museum in Kittery, Maine. The fog bell that was used at the lighthouse is now on display at the South Shore Baptist Church in Hingham, Massachusetts. When the station got a new boat the small bell that was on the bow of the 18-foot old lighthouse boat at Boon Island was thrown out in the trash, it was saved by Calvin and Miriam Dolby. In October of 2004, Miriam and Patti Dolby presented the bell to Lighthouse Digest editor Timothy Harrison and it is now on display at the Maine Lighthouse Museum in Rockland, Maine.
